Monday was all about relaxing and enjoying some movies we had been wanting to see. We woke around 8:00 AM and got ready for the day. Then we went to Deck 11 and grabbed 2 comfy chairs in the adult area. The water was so blue and it was almost hypnotic. After enjoying this lovely scenery for a bit we went to The Cabanas for breakfast. Then it was back to our comfy chairs with a book in my hand and Butch’s earphones in his ears. We had some really nice quiet time.
At 1:15 PM we went to the Walt Disney Theatre to see “The Bride of Spies.” This movie stars Tom Hanks and it is a dramatic thriller set against the backdrop of a series of historic events. This true story is about James Donovan, a Brooklyn lawyer who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War. The movie was fantastic!! We were amazed at how many awesome people have done such heroic things of which we have never even heard. Thank God for film makers and companies like Disney for making these films for us all.
After the movie, we went to have lunch and then we went walking around the ship and took some pictures of the play areas on the ship. I will be posting about those soon.
Dinner was cruise casual at Enchanted Garden. It is so beautiful there and the beautiful floral elements go from daytime to evening as you dine. Our food was delicious.
We decided to see the 10:30 PM showing of “The Finest Hours” at the Buena Vista Theatre. This movie is another true story about a brave Coast Guard rescue during a massive storm in 1952. The SS Pendleton split in two trapping more than 30 sailors inside the tanker’s sinking stern. Despite the ferocious weather, coxswain Bernie Webber took 3 men on a lifeboat to try to save the crew against seemingly impossible odds. The movie stars Chris Pine, Casey Affleck and Holliday Grainger and it was extremely well-done. Another story of heroes we would have never known about if Disney had not made this movie. If you have never been in the movie theater of a rocking ship while you were watching ships and boats rocking in a storm, it is a 4D experience that cannot be duplicated — quite the special effect indeed!!
After the movie, we went back to the room for a good night sleep in preparation for our day in Tortola, BVI.
Thanks for reading…stay tuned!
