Review: Disney’s Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party

While planning our recent trip to Walt Disney World, I decided to splurge a bit and book us into Disney’s Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party. There are two main reasons I booked it: 1) it was our first time to see the new Happily Ever After Show, and 2) Aleyah and McKinley are small so I really wanted them to have a good view of the show. Today, I am sharing my review of the experience.

Check-In

We arrived at the check-in desk at the requested time, 7:45 PM (they request that you arrive 75 minutes prior to fireworks) and gave the cast member our name. She checked us in and gave each of us a wrist band to identify us as party attendees. We then entered the venue and found a table. There were quite a number of guests there but it didn’t feel too crowded.

Dessert and Drink Offerings

The dessert buffet included: Dark Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries, Chocolate Almond Cake, Strawberry Tarts, Oreo Mickey Treats, Happily Ever After Red Velvet Cupcakes, Chocolate Marshmallow Tarts, Pineapple Delight, Macarons, Villains Chocolate Cupcakes, an Ice Cream Sundae Station and a Decorate-Your-Own-Cookie Station.

There were also some pre-made kid dessert plates that included a brownie with chocolate syrup, a strawberry, rice krispie treat, marshmallow, pineapple chunk and a Mickey silly straw.

For guests without a sweet tooth (I don’t associate with people like that lol), there were cheese and fruit options as well.

Drink selections included: Sparkling Cider, Assorted Lemonades, Hot Chocolate, Coffee and Tea.

We made our selections and went to the table. We all thought our desserts were very good. After sharing bites from each other’s plates and talking about our day, we headed out to the check-in desk for our viewing area, Garden Plaza. This photo is of the check-in desk for the Garden Plaza Viewing Area; the check-in for the Tomorrowland Terrace seating is on the other side.

Once several families gathered at check-in, the cast member walked all of us to the Plaza Viewing Area and told us we could stand or sit wherever we would like.

Garden Plaza Viewing Area

The Garden Plaza is a large, grassy area. Many guests use this area throughout the day for rest, picnics and to chill before heading off to their next great adventure. It is a wonderful location, right in front of the castle.

We chose the front, right corner as it looked like the least busy since the area directly in front of the fence is a no-stand zone.

As you can see, there weren’t a great number of people behind us so I think everyone was comfortably positioned.

Here we are eagerly awaiting what was sure to be an awesome show. We all had full bellies and full hearts too!

Then the show finally started and I was truly impressed! The magic that Disney Imagineers can work through projection technology is beyond belief. I absolutely loved the show and, of course, the fireworks. The music was fantastic as well! It was so well done. What an awesome night!

Booking Options

Guests have two options when booking the Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party. Both serve exactly the same desserts, the only difference is the fireworks viewing location. The one we attended was the stand-up viewing at Garden Plaza. The cost for this is $59 per adult and $35 per child (3-9). The other option is seated viewing at Tomorrowland Terrace. That option is $79 per adult and $47 per child.

Final Thoughts

To me, the Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party is worth the cost. I loved our location and I really enjoyed this experience. Unlike the previous Wishes fireworks show, which really could be viewed from behind the castle, over at Frontierland or other less-crowded areas, the projection technology has made it necessary to be right in front of the castle more than ever before. Our view was fantastic and, to me, it was definitely worth the splurge!
