Happy 82nd birthday, Momma!
I took last Thursday and Friday off from work and spent those two days with my sisters and my mom. We were celebrating my mom’s birthday, which is today! Happy 82nd birthday, Momma!!
We try to plan short getaways with our mom for Mother’s Day and for her birthday each year. It’s an important tradition for us to get together and celebrate our life with her.
Our day started off with lunch at Ouisie’s Table which is one of our favorite Houston restaurants. Then we went shopping in Highland Village with stops at Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn (shown below), Anthropologie, Pottery Barn Kids, ZGallery and other shops.
After shopping, we checked in for the evening at Hotel Granduca Houston. The hotel is like a charming, old-world Italian villa. It is so beautiful and welcoming.
After resting for a bit and freshening up, we went back down to the Bar Malatesta and had a wonderful, relaxing evening listening to jazz at the Aperitivo Happy Hour. We all shared some Italian light bites and toasted mom while listening to the awesome Anthony Caceres Duo. We requested a few of our Sinatra favorites as well.
A little while later, mom was surprised with a birthday tiramisu. No one in the world is more deserving of tiramisu than my mom!Later, we went out by the pool and relaxed in some chaise lounges under the stars before going back to our room. It was a wonderful evening celebrating our mom. The next day we had lunch at the Grand Lux Cafe before doing a bit of shopping and heading home.
We take mom on these little getaways because life is so busy for all of us and we need this time together and with her. We celebrate our mom’s compassionate spirit and infectious laughter, as well as the tower of strength she has always been for our family. Above all we celebrate the never-wavering unconditional love she has shared with us throughout the years. We celebrate our mom for all the special gifts she has shared with us throughout her lifetime.
As you may or may not know, the gift of all that Disney is to my life is definitely owed to my mom. She took me on my first trip when I was 15 and it was my first glimpse of this world that would come to mean so much to me.
We have shared many years of wonderful memories with mom. We look forward to many more. Happy birthday to one amazing woman!
