To me the human element is such an important part of my travels to Disney or anywhere else. Our lives are all woven together in one way or another. Taking the time to pay attention and to soak it all in is so important. I like to use some of my posts to spotlight someone I have met in the parks or a special client. Today, I am very happy to introduce you to the Burkett family. They visited Walt Disney World for the first time last year and fell in love instantly (we can understand that, right)? I hope you will enjoy reading about their favorites. Thank you guys so much for letting me share your story with my readers today!
Tell me about your first visit to Walt Disney World: We spent 9 days at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, with 6 park days. We did 3 days at Magic Kingdom and one day each at the other parks. With Brenda’s help, we scheduled a slew of FastPasses and Character Dining / special events. Our two kids were on cloud 9!
What is it that you love most about Disney? Experiencing the magic of Disney through the eyes of our children. They were 7 & 4 at the time — seeing them interact with the characters they see on the big screen was incredible.
What is your favorite park and why? Magic Kingdom — so much of our childhood lives in that park. Seeing the classic characters helps us remember those days-gone-by fondly. Animal Kingdom is a close second. I’d heard it was just a big zoo, but it is SO MUCH MORE.
What is your favorite resort and why? The Lion King suites at AoA so far.
What is your favorite non-character restaurant and what do you order? .Ohana dinner. What do we order? EVERYTHING. Just don’t eat the morning of your reservation to make room for it all!
What is your favorite character dining experience and why? Chef Mickey. Classic characters all the way. Akershus was a close second – the princess parade was fun to watch with our daughter following Ariel around.
What other special activities or events have you experienced and did you enjoy them? We have done the Pirates’ League, Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at the castle and the Happily Ever After Dessert Party. They were fantastic. The best part of doing Pirates League was when my 4 yr old son got called up on stage for Jack Sparrow’s show right after he got made up like a rough and tough pirate!
What is your favorite fireworks show? Parade? Happily Ever After (using lawn seat reservations). Parade – Festival of Fantasy parade (3pm past Liberty Tree Tavern)
What is your favorite ride? Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, (Kids’ favorite was Buzz LightYear – we must have ridden that 12 times over the 3 park days)
What is your number one must-do for a new visitor? If you have kids, take them to the Enchanted Tales with Belle at Magic Kingdom. It’s a fun role-play experience with an added photo-op / meet & greet at the end. If you don’t have kids, Space Mountain.
What is your best memory, so far, of Disney? At Hollywood Studios, watching my son and daughter fight off Darth Vader at the Jedi Training Academy. Or the absolutely adorable post-Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique photo session they hold for your princess & prince. The pictures they took of our two together are priceless.
What are you most looking forward to for your next visit? Mickey Pretzels & Mickey Bars! Also trying a different resort – so we can experience more of what Disney has to offer.
